About Petersburg, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Petersburg, Indiana serves as the seat for Pike County. As of the 2010 census, about 2,400 people called the community home. Petersburg was originally laid out in 1817, and since then, mining has become an important part of the town’s economy. Indianapolis Power & Light’s Petersburg Generating Station is a coal-fired power plant here, and there are two coal mines located within only ten miles of the community. The Pike County School Corporation serves the region, and students will attend Pike Central High School in Petersburg to complete their secondary education.
Petersburg is a relatively small town, but as the county seat, there are a few noteworthy things to do here. Prides Creek Golf Course offers a challenging layout, and outdoor recreation can also be enjoyed at Hornady Park or Prides Creek Park. There are several specialty shops located here, including Petersburg Hardware, Whitehorse Antique Shop, Route 56 Antiques and Treasures, and the Ole Flower Shoppe. Residents and visitors alike can also enjoy a home-cooked meal at No. 423 Smokehouse, Mi Patio, and Caddyshack.
Petersburg is located within a humid subtropical climate region. The town experience hot and humid summers with average daily high temperatures of about 87 degrees. However, there are many days where thermostat readings will soar to well over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, so it is crucial that locals arm themselves with the right central air conditioner. Offering quiet operations and energy efficient cooling, these units will ensure residents stay comfortable throughout the season.
During the autumn months, conditions will start to cool down, and Petersburg residents should take this opportunity to service their home heating systems. Natural gas and electric furnaces will keep temperatures warm indoors, especially when freezing conditions move into the area. While snowfall is typically low, frigid temperatures can make indoor and outdoor temperatures hazardous without the right heating system in place.
