About Bicknell, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Bicknell, Indiana is a small city found in Indiana’s Knox County. As of 2010, approximately 2,900 people lived here. This community was originally laid out by John Bicknell in 1869, and it was aptly named after him. Bicknell was originally a coal mining town, and by 1920, over 20 shaft mines here employed more than 2,000 workers. When many of those early mines began to close, the population declined, but it is still a great place to either retire or raise a family. A family-friendly town, Bicknell is home to a branch of the local Bicknell-Vigo Township Public Library.
There are a few prominent things to see and do in Bicknell. Visitors and residents alike may like to book a tee time at the Bicknell Country Club. There are also several different restaurants in the city limits, including Paul’s Tavern and La Montana Restaurant. Bicknell also hosts some popular seasonal events, including the annual 4th of July fireworks and the Bicknell Heritage Festival, which includes a parade and softball tournament.
Whether you reside in Bicknell or simply plan to visit when in the area, it is important to prepare for the weather. Summers here are hot, humid, and hazy, with temperatures often reaching into the 90s. A reliable central air conditioner is a necessity to keep indoor temperatures comfortable, and the right system will also improve indoor air quality. This is an especially important feature for locals who might suffer from asthma or other respiratory conditions.
Most Bicknell residents consider the winter months a benefit to living here, as they tend to be milder than other parts of the country. Snowfall totals usually stay below one foot per season, and average daily highs reach into the upper-30s. However, overnight lows often fall below freezing, so a reliable electric or natural gas furnace is crucial to keep temperatures comfortable and pipes from freezing.
